The Forbes Funds was founded nearly 30 years ago as a response to nonprofits experiencing short-term cash flow or organizational crises. Over the years, The Forbes Funds has established a proactive role of helping organizations to build and strengthen their capabilities. The guidance and leadership provided by The Forbes Funds is designed to help nonprofits to survive — and thrive.

The Forbes Funds demonstrates sector leadership with tools, activities, opportunities and initiatives revolving around sector needs, including:

• opportunities to convene to discuss timely nonprofit sector issues.
• professional development activities to strengthen the talent and leadership required to move a nonprofit forward.
• leveraging our resources and talent to pursue partnerships that assist us in advancing the needs of our community.
• the Shapira Medal is awarded to local nonprofit executives who display exemplary leadership and
• the Wishart Award honors local nonprofit human service or community development organizations that have demonstrated a sustained commitment to excellence in management and governance.
• creating strong relationships among the more than 350 nonprofit members of the Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership and, through this, offering a unified voice for the nonprofit sector.
